Board told ODE grant talks and bargaining will yield one restored instructional day

Debbie presented an update on the academic calendar and said the district has been restoring instructional days that were shortened during staffing reductions. "The academic calendar reflected 172.5 days," she said, noting the district had dropped to 164.5 days after cuts and has restored three days recently. "We have agreed that we will restore 1 day, for this coming academic year," Debbie added.
Debbie said the district is consulting with bargaining groups (NEA and the classified union OSEA) before finalizing calendar adjustments and that the plan meets the baseline in Governor Kotek's executive order on instructional time. She said adjustments will likely fall in trimesters two and three, and promised to return to the board with a formal proposal after bargaining.
