Story County approves Harland Coop rezoning near Colo

The Story County Board of Supervisors voted Aug. 11 to approve a zoning map amendment to rezone approximately 2.1 net acres east of the city of Colo from A1 (agricultural) to A2 (agribusiness).
Leslie of Planning and Development presented the Harland Coop application (case OCM‑26‑23), saying staff found the request consistent with the county's C2C future land‑use map and the zoning compatibility matrix. Leslie told the board the Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval (6–0).
There were no public comments when the board opened the public hearing. A motion was made to approve the rezoning on first consideration and to waive second and third considerations; the board voted unanimously to approve the amendment.
The staff report noted the site is used for storage of agricultural liquids, is about 1,860 feet from the city of Colo, and will be reviewed for any improvements in the Jan. 1, 2027 assessment cycle.
