Planning director updates P&Z on bond projects, upcoming construction and community events

The planning director updated commissioners on several near-term capital projects and community activities. Staff said Tallyloop (an existing street in the Garlic Creek neighborhood) is slated to begin construction in November, the Main Street interim improvement adding a right-turn lane at Main and I-35 is expected to have a contract award in November, and several trail contract awards (New Creek Trail and Garlic Creek Trail) are also expected in November with construction starting in December.
Staff also briefed the commission on the Hays County Road Bond and the city's role in a feasibility study for the SH 45 Gap project; staff said the overall bond package totals $439,634,000 and early voting for the county propositions is underway. Staff provided a list of local vote centers and reminded commissioners that City Hall serves as a vote center. Finally staff listed community events including Buda Halloween (Oct. 26), the Buda Veterans Day Parade (Nov. 9) and a caregiver seminar beginning Nov. 12.
Commissioners had no formal action on the report; staff invited questions and said they would return to the commission as contract awards and construction schedules are finalized.
