Chief Mike Gledhill reported that the Narcotics Strike Force's FY2027 budget shows no significant changes but that personnel costs increased after Daggett County and Adult Probation and Parole added representatives to the task force. He said participating agencies continue to contribute approximately $17,000 annually for each assigned member, and those contributions offset the additional personnel costs.
Gledhill said Roosevelt City remains a member of the task force but has advocated for task force operations on the Uintah and Ouray Reservation. Vernal City opposes conducting operations on the reservation without a formal agreement and indicated its insurance carrier has raised concerns. Mayor Corey Foley and other Councilmembers acknowledged that the disagreement has created ongoing tension among participating agencies.
