Habitat for Humanity credited as key partner in Hampton repair Blitz

“We, actually had a home repair program that we were unable to sustain, and we were gonna have to end it. And then Jonathan approached us about this partnership,” Tyler said, adding that without the collaboration Habitat could not continue the repair Blitz. She thanked the city and the housing authority for their support in enabling Habitat to scale volunteer management and volunteer‑led repairs.
Council members heard that Habitat provides volunteer management, name recognition for fundraising and connections to in‑kind donors; that support lets skilled volunteers and team leaders focus on structural repairs while the organization handles volunteer recruitment and coordination.
Tyler’s remarks were framed as part of a broader presentation by city staff about how the Blitz combines nonprofit, corporate and faith partners to extend limited municipal resources.
