Commissioner urges tree pruning and replanting; manager to contact North Georgia Tech and 4-H

Commissioner Gail Fry reported multiple city-planted trees, including dogwoods, are in poor condition with dead limbs blocking sidewalks, signage and in some places travel lanes on Tugalo. Fry asked that professional pruning or removal and replanting be scheduled. City Manager Fredda O. Wheeler said she would contact North Georgia Tech and the 4‑H division to recommend personnel and to schedule a citywide tree survey to prioritize pruning, removals and replanting.
Commissioner Terry Carter asked that the city discuss the tower at the next work session and raised the possibility of implementing impact fees for utilities on tap fees; staff were asked to add those topics to the next agenda.
