The Peotone Village Board approved a resolution authorizing a professional-services agreement with BNF to update the village's building code to the 2021 International Code. Moderator said the state has "passed a law that, we need to be on a more recent, set of codes than we are," and noted the village currently uses the 2015 code and the deadline to approve the update is July 1.
Staff explained BNF would assist the village in reviewing proposed changes, help identify local code items the village may wish to retain, and present recommendations to the building committee before full-board consideration of any local amendments. The trustees moved and approved the resolution and asked the building committee to meet with BNF to begin the process.
