The board approved several administrative items and school appropriations and heard the county administrator’s report announcing planning milestones.
Miss Stimson presented updates to the county credit-card and travel reimbursement policies that permit select cards to be kept overnight during travel and align travel reimbursement with IRS mileage rates. The board moved, seconded and approved the policy updates.
Staff also presented multiple school-appropriation items for FY27, including a SIG middle school grant and a request to appropriate $580,000 in state funds for the operating budget; motions to appropriate the funds were moved, seconded and carried.
County Administrator Stanley reported Prince Edward County received the Old Dominion Award for the 2045 comprehensive plan, noted landfill inspection results (no findings) and said he had signed a contract with the Berkeley Group to draft supplementary zoning regulations for data centers — a process expected to take 4–6 months and include planning commission meetings and public participation.
