City staff previews Arbor Day and holiday events; Arbor Day set for Nov. 8 with schools participating

Tony told the commission the city will hold an internal Arbor Day tree-planting event tomorrow for employees and a larger Arbor Day on Nov. 8 at Green Meadows in partnership with Tom Green Elementary; he estimated about 200 students may participate. "November 8 is the day... we got schools coming to help plant... I wanted to say... 200," Tony said, describing school involvement and educational activities.
Staff also reviewed the community events calendar: Halloween on Oct. 26 (4–7:30 p.m. with a movie at about 7:45 p.m.), a Veterans Day parade Nov. 9 with a ceremony timed near 9:45–10:30 a.m., the Railcar Revival concert programming beginning Nov. 1, and the Stagecoach Park holiday lights running Dec. 11–14 and Dec. 18–21 — staff said this year’s display may reach about 45,000 lights. The parks team described staging plans, vendor setup dates and contingency plans for rain.
