Hampton council votes to enter closed session on appointments, Buckroe property and taxicab ordinance advice

Near the end of the open session Mayor Tuck called for regional issues and noted possible COVID exposure; he and the assistant city manager elected to wear masks as a precaution. The clerk then read a motion to convene a closed session.
The clerk recited the motion: "Your motion required today to convene the closed session is pursuant to Virginia code sections 2.2 dash 3,711 1.1, 0.3 and 0.8 to consider appointments as listed on the agenda and consideration of an appointment recommendation for the governor's appointment to the Hampton Roads Transit Board; to discuss the disposition of publicly held real property in the Buckroe area of the city where discussion in an open meeting would adversely affect bargaining or negotiating strategy of the city; and to consult with legal counsel employed by the city regarding specific legal matters concerning taxicab ordinances in the Hampton City Code, which require the provision of legal advice by such counsel." A motion was moved and seconded and the council voted unanimously to enter closed session; the clerk announced the meeting would reconvene at 1:55 p.m. in the Community Development Conference Room. The open session was then adjourned.
Action details: the recorded vote was announced as unanimous; staff will address appointments, property disposition strategy in Buckroe, and receive legal advice on taxicab ordinance matters in closed session.
