BEFCO engineer Chad Emmel attended the meeting to explain the TDA CDBG-funded rehabilitation of the Knittel (Kanittel) lift station. He said the solicitation will ask contractors for a base bid covering the required work and for optional upgrade bids that would allow the lift station to serve more connections if funding permits.
Emmel said upgrades would be implemented only if TDA funds and council approval allow them. Bid notices have been published in the Banner Press and bids are scheduled to be opened on Nov. 21; the recommended low, responsible bidder will be presented to council for approval at the December meeting. "The base bid will be on just what is required to do the job," Emmel told the council packet summary.
Council did not award contract at the Nov. 12 meeting; staff indicated the December agenda will include the contractor hire recommendation based on bid openings.
