Burnet CISD honors students and outgoing trustee at May 18 board meeting

The Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees recognized a series of student achievements and honored outgoing trustee Suzanne Brown during its May 18 meeting.
Dr. Peña recognized Suzanne Brown for her nine years of service and presented her with a commemorative clock. The Pledge of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flag was recited by retiring Board Member Suzanne Brown. Athletic Director Grant Freeman and coaches presented certificates to students named THSCA Academic All-State and to members of the BHS powerlifting, girls golf and boys swim teams (the swim team qualified for the 4A All‑State team). Theatre Teacher Amanda Brandenburg presented Josslyn Walker Eskola with a certificate for qualifying for State in UIL Theatrical Design. District staff also showed videos for UIL Current Issues & Events and Social Studies teams that were not present.
The recognitions covered multiple FFA teams and individual awards: Hannah Brooks received a State Winner designation for the Texas FFA Star Chapter Placement Award; BHS teams qualified for state in range judging, wildlife, agronomy, meats judging and the State BBQ Team. Certificates were presented to students and coaches where present. The district did not record dollar amounts or awards beyond certificates in the minutes.
