City staff told council that Burton’s TWDB Project Information Form (PIF) ranked 84 of 355 entries and was not selected for funding; the city was told only the top 38 proposals received funding from a $1 billion pool. Rachel Belvin and BEFCO engineers said the city needs to improve its scoring to be competitive in future funding cycles.
Separately, Burton will work with a four‑student Texas A&M capstone team on a wastewater project. Utility Manager Rachel Belvin met the students in town, showed them wastewater facilities and said the team will be returning regularly over the next few months as part of the Texas Target Communities program.
