Board approves state-local agreement to move Spirit Lake Curves project into construction

Road & Bridge engineer Matt Mulder said the project realigns a particularly dangerous 90-degree corner near Bear Road to make it suitable for 45 mph travel and adds guardrail, chevrons and delineators to improve night visibility. "This project aims to address the worst of the corners, by realigning it to make it appropriate for 45 miles per hour," Mulder said, adding the county has acquired necessary property rights and completed design.
Mulder said the county qualified for grant funding in 2022 based on fatalities and severe accidents at the location; commissioners approved the agreement and match at the meeting by roll call.
