Public hearing opened on used-car sales permit near St. Peters; vote set for two weeks

The council opened a public hearing on Bill 5,516 (CUP26-05), a conditional-use permit for used-automobile sales at 4532 Central School Road near St. Peters. Robert Myers, director of the Planning and Zoning Division, told the council the proposal would use an existing building as an office for two employees with up to 35 cars displayed on a small asphalt lot behind the office. Myers said most sales are expected to be online, which "would probably reduce the traffic to this location," and noted the Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval 9-0 under section 405.510(b) of the county code.

Applicant Danny Kliesner introduced himself and said the site plan includes customer parking and employee parking up front with the lot behind used for inventory. "Not much to add," Kliesner said, adding he did not expect the site to be a "very intense use at all." Arnie C. Acdinoff, who identified himself as County Public Advocate, told the council he reviewed the packet, supported the permit as a low-traffic use and asked staff to upgrade the recommended Type 2 buffer to a Type 3 landscape buffer to protect adjoining property values. After public comment, the chair closed the hearing and announced the council will vote on Bill 5,516 at the next meeting in two weeks.
