The Village of Waynesville Finance Committee voted on Sept. 15, 2025 to ask that an ordinance be drafted to transfer $1.5 million from the Sweep account into the STAR Ohio account. Committee member Connie Miller moved for the ordinance request, and committee member Chris Colvin seconded; the motion passed with two ayes.
Jamie Morley, staff, told the committee the Sweep account was earning about 2% while STAR Ohio was yielding about 4%, and recommended the transfer to earn a higher return. The minutes state that, if the transfer occurs, the balance of the STAR Ohio account would rise to $2.2 million. The ordinance must still be written and considered by the full council before any funds are moved.
