The South Weber City Council voted to buy a vacuum trailer for the Public Works Department for $87,420.11, a piece of equipment the Utilities Committee recommended to reduce use of outside contractor services.
Councilman Blair Halverson told the council that the city sometimes pays Twin D "over $100,000 annually" for potholing and utility locating and that owning a vacuum trailer would allow crews to locate utilities, clean valve and storm-drain boxes, and excavate around water meters with less road damage. Halverson moved to approve the purchase at $87,420.11; Councilwoman Angie Petty seconded, and Council Members Joel Dills, Halverson, Petty and Wayne Winsor voted aye.
