Caddo Mills adopts food-truck ordinance and zoning rules requiring special-use permits

City Attorney Susan Thomas summarized an ordinance amending Chapter 4 to create Article 4.06 establishing rules for mobile food units and mobile food unit parks. The ordinance defines three categories of mobile food activity, sets permitting fees, requires health and sales permits, sets parking and fire-safety standards, and requires access to commissary, trash receptacles, and bathroom facilities; Council Member Lori Howell asked about the principal restrictions and Thomas reiterated the permitting, fire-safety, commissary, parking, trash, and restroom requirements.
The council then opened and closed a public hearing on zoning amendments to Chapter 14A with no public speakers; Thomas noted that all districts where food-truck parks are allowed will require a special-use permit. Mayor Pro Tem John Verity moved to approve the zoning amendment and the motion passed unanimously.
