County departments report on water savings, fair planning, fire activity and IT migration

Multiple county departments gave routine reports at the July 27 meeting covering water conservation, fair planning, fire activity, IT projects and treasury figures.
Paul Monroe, Cedar Valley Water Conservancy manager, said reduced outdoor watering saved about "500K gallons of water per day" during the recent dry period and outlined ongoing projects including Pine Valley water supply, effluent reuse and aquifer recharge planning. Jami Evans, fair director, said the 2026 Iron County Fair theme is "Rocking the 90's," listed event dates Aug. 21–Sept. 7 and reported $91,800 in confirmed sponsorships toward a $120,000 goal.
Fire Warden Spencer Rollo provided a seasonal summary, reporting statewide totals of 675 fires burning 380,998 acres and noting Iron County experienced 38 fires burning roughly 3,943.15 acres during the reporting period; he described causes, recent lightning-start fires that were contained, and ongoing fuels-reduction and prevention work. IT Director Jared Wilson described progress migrating the financial server from hosted to cloud and ongoing GIS collaboration with the WUI project. Treasurer Nicole Rosenberg reported interest-rate movement in the Public Treasurer's Investment Fund and balances in county investments.
