Utility contractor reports WWTP gearbox replacement, sewer leak and medical pod coordination

During the consent-agenda reports on Jan. 13, 2026, Utility Contractor Dustin Lozano briefed the council on recent work to maintain Burton's water and wastewater systems. He reported that a gearbox had been replaced at the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), a sewer leak occurred near the Lucherk lift station (near FM 2780) caused by another utility's line repair, and that he had met with Washington County EMS and other officials about siting a medical pod on Burton EMS property.
The contractor's update was included as part of the consent agenda, which the council approved. The minutes note ongoing coordination and that TCEQ-required testing remains outstanding on Water Well #5 under the General Land Office contract; staff also noted a pre-construction meeting is being scheduled for the Knittel Lift Station project.
