City Administrator reports FEMA/TDEM grant, water-pipe grant kickoff and other operations updates

City Administrator reported to the Calvert City Council on a range of operational items, including a FEMA/TDEM grant, an east-side water-pipe grant kickoff, remodeling of the Senior Citizens Center, cold-weather meter-reading challenges and upcoming ditch work.
The City Administrator told the Calvert City Council on Feb. 24 that staff are working on a FEMA/TDEM grant and have launched a separate grant to replace or repair water pipes on the east side housing authority. Work on remodeling the Senior Citizens Center and progress at the Business Center and Food Bank were also reported.
The administrator flagged a “critical IT issue,” said meter-reading and leak detection are more difficult in cold weather, and listed near-term operations including ditch work and ordering a drop box for the City Hall drive-through window. No formal action was taken; staff were directed to continue implementation and to report additional cost or schedule details to council at a future meeting.
