"So right now, everything is very paper based. A software will allow applicants to apply online and to track their progress through a dashboard," the staff member said, adding that the town has quotes from three companies and that the new system will reduce paperwork and speed processing. Commissioners discussed the number of required plan copies and whether the town could reduce required paper sets from seven to three while retaining office access to full-size sets; staff said digital review by the inspection agency is possible and that contractors could still submit hard copies when preferred.
