The commission approved a series of tree-removal applications after reviewing photos and staff notes indicating disease, hazard or roots damaging nearby structures. Commissioners said they generally allow removal when photos show visible decay or imminent limb failure and sometimes approve after-the-fact work when hazards existed.
One commissioner described problems at the Oxford Fire Company site, saying brush and trees had been blocking access and reported that a fire vehicle had been stuck while responding. "We've actually had a fire vehicle stuck in that area," the commissioner said when recommending removal to clear access. Members voted to approve the fire-company removal and several residential removals where evidence showed disease, root interference or immediate hazard.
