At the council meeting, the finance department presented July collections and told the council local sales tax for the month was $351,100,198, up from $337,100,087 the prior year — a 4.19% increase. The state's share of sales tax for the month was reported at $80,809 (up from $78,112), representing a 3.5% increase.
Finance staff also reported occupancy-tax figures: leisure occupancy receipts were $18,337, representing a 39.9% decrease compared with the prior period, and staff noted that a Hampton payment earlier in the fiscal period had boosted that account. No budgetary action was taken during the presentation; the numbers were given as the monthly revenue report.
