Fayetteville outlines fall events, says downtown fire relief fund raised 'over $40,000'

City staff outlined the fall events calendar and reported on downtown recovery efforts at the Fayetteville City Council meeting. An economic development official said the city will hold 1st Saturday events on Sept. 5 and Oct. 3 and a special fall event on Oct. 24; tickets for the Oct. 24 event will be available soon.
On downtown recovery, the official said the city "raised over $40,000, and all of that money except for a couple of $100 has been dispersed," with remaining funds to be distributed evenly to businesses affected by the fire. The official noted the distribution included property owners and business owners, specifically mentioning Señor Lopez as a recipient whose business had been closed for more than six months. City staff said the relief fund account will remain open for a few more months to finish distributions.
