The Canyon City Commission on June 16 adopted an interlocal cooperation agreement with Randall County intended to streamline approvals for public special events on the Courthouse Square and surrounding downtown area. City Manager Joe Price said the concept was developed in coordination with County Judge Dyer and that the agreement would designate the City as the permitting authority for public special events while preserving the county's role on other matters.
Price clarified the agreement applies only to public special events and does not authorize the city to approve private events on county property. The Commission adopted the agreement unanimously; Randall County's Commissioners Court is scheduled to consider the agreement on July 23.
