Commission adopts 2024 Water Conservation Plan to maintain grant eligibility

The Canyon City Commission voted unanimously June 16 to adopt Ordinance No. 1254, the city's 2024 Water Conservation Plan and Drought Contingency Plan. Planning and Development Director Dustin Meyer said adoption keeps the city in compliance with the Texas Water Code and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality rules and ensures eligibility for funding administered by the Texas Water Development Board under House Bill 500.
Meyer told the commission that the strategies and goals in the plan were unchanged and the update is primarily administrative to meet state agency requirements. The adoption preserves the city's position to apply for water infrastructure grant opportunities tied to TWDB and statewide funding created by HB 500.
