On June 16 the Canyon City Commission voted unanimously to adopt Ordinance No. 1253, rezoning a 2.46‑acre tract in Hidden Valley Unit No. 13 (the former CISD bus barn) from SF‑43 (single‑family agricultural) to RC‑2 (commercial). Planning and Development Director Dustin Meyer said the change was requested by Jessie Arredondo of OJD Engineering on behalf of property owner Trent Morgan.
Meyer told the commission the owner plans to rent out “shop” spaces in the renovated buildings and noted that the Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously on June 15 to recommend the rezoning. Mayor Hinders opened a public hearing; there were no comments from the public before the Commission voted to adopt the ordinance. The action directs staff to post the new zoning classification on the city zoning maps.
