Weaks family seeks leeway for decorations at Oak Hill Cemetery; council says rules date to 2021

A representative of the Weaks family asked the Cameron City Council on Nov. 18 to allow family members to continue placing items and flowers on their lots at Oak Hill Cemetery.
"The Weaks family would like to take care of their lots and be allowed to place items and flowers on the lots since they own the lots," Dana Schoppe told the council. Mayor Fuchs replied that "the regulations were actually put into place in 2021" and that the City periodically announces clean-ups to keep the grounds tidy for easier maintenance. He said the city could not selectively arrange maintenance for only some lots. No formal action was taken on the item at the meeting.
