Cameron council adopts special-event permitting rules, sets application and barricade fees

Cameron’s City Council approved a revision to the city’s special-event permitting rules on Nov. 18, adopting an ordinance that sets application fees and standards for temporary event barriers.
The ordinance, listed as Ordinance No. 2024-11-18-008, establishes a $20 application fee for permits submitted at least 14 days before an event and a $20 late fee for applications submitted 1–13 days beforehand. Council approved allowing up to four barricades covered by the application; any additional barricade is charged $25 each. The ordinance also provides for permit denials and revocations, insurance and indemnity requirements, an appeals process, and penalties for violations (not to exceed $2,000 per violation).
The motion to adopt the ordinance was presented and carried following council discussion on barricade allowances and fee timing. The new fee rules were incorporated into the city’s broader fee schedule changes adopted the same night.
