Council reviews fee-amendment ordinance and lengthy Exhibit A fee schedule

The amendment ordinance states that any person violating the ordinance could be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished by a fine not to exceed $500. Exhibit A lists itemized charges including a Special Event Application Fee of $20, barricade rental at $25 per barricade, street-cut repair at $15.00 per square foot, and a range of water and wastewater rates (for example, an inside-city 5/8" meter minimum charge of $51.45 for the first 2,000 gallons). The exhibit also covers cemetery fees, pool admission and rental rates, building-permit fees, municipal court fees and numerous administrative charges.
Council members did not record a final vote on the fee-amendment ordinance at this meeting; the item was read for first reading. Mayor Fuchs told council members to forward suggested changes to City Manager Ricky Tow.
