Council approves plumbing and flooring bids for Chillicothe Fire Department remodel; demo bid to be considered Aug. 10

The Chillicothe City Council on July 27 approved two ordinances to purchase materials and flooring for remodeling three bathrooms at the Chillicothe Fire Department.
Ordinance #2026-66 accepted Chillicothe Plumbing Supply’s bid of $22,640.48 for building materials and plumbing fixtures; the minutes state half of that expense will be paid by the Ambulance District. Ordinance #2026-67 accepted James Carpet and Design LLC’s (doing business as Lent’s Prints LLC) bid for flooring and cover base at $2,843.92, which the minutes say includes removal and installation of wax rings and toilets and will likewise be split with the Ambulance District. Both motions passed on 4-0 votes.
City Clerk Amy Hess reported the city received no timely bids for the demolition and equipment installation portion of the project. The minutes record that a late bid from Zabka Development for $14,110.00 arrived more than 24 hours after the bid closing; council consensus was to return that item as an ordinance at the August 10, 2026 meeting for formal consideration since no other bids were received. No formal award was made for demolition and installation at the July 27 meeting.
