Trustees set committees, accept donations and approve several hires in July meeting

At the July 13 meeting, the Canyon ISD Board approved its committee assignments for 2026–2027 (Audit, Contract & Compensation, Stewardship, Facilities Construction) as presented by President Katharyn Wiegand; the motion was moved by Casey Posey and seconded by Dr. Randy Davis and carried unanimously (6 in favor). The board also appointed Adam Cummings as the non‑voting staff advisor to the School Library Advisory Council (motion by Laurie Gilliland, seconded by Kari Trice), again unanimous.
Trustees accepted donations totaling $13,641.84 from Upward 4 Kids to assist with elementary, intermediate, and junior high low-income student lunch debt and $500 from C.S. Wilson & Associates to sponsor Convocation 2026 (motion by Mrs. Gilliland, seconded by Mrs. Trice). Following closed session, the board approved employment of eight listed candidates for the 2026–2027 school year; motions on these personnel approvals carried unanimously and indicated compensation will follow the local salary schedule and assignment by the superintendent.
