Town Board appoints Nick Jordan to fill Council vacancy through 2025
Summary
The Town Board accepted Councilman Grescheck's resignation and, after debate over a potential conflict with the board of elections, appointed Nick Jordan to serve the remainder of the term through Dec. 31, 2025; the appointment passed on a 3–1 roll-call vote with one abstention not recorded.
Supervisor Bronner opened the July 8 meeting by informing the board that Councilman Grescheck had moved out of the township and submitted his resignation. On a motion by Councilman Hubiak, seconded by Councilman Gerhardt, the board accepted the resignation.
Supervisor Bronner nominated Nick Jordan to fill the vacancy through Dec. 31, 2025. Councilman Voght said he preferred Marie Armstrong because she is running for the seat in November 2025, but Bronner said the board-of-elections guidance created a potential conflict if Armstrong were appointed now. The motion to appoint Jordan was made, seconded and carried on a roll-call vote: Hubiak aye, Gerhardt aye, Voght nay, Bronner aye. Jordan was subsequently given the oath of office by Supervisor Bronner later in the meeting.
The board recorded the appointment as a statutory responsibility to fill the seat until the end of the calendar year. No written objections to the appointment were noted in the minutes.
