The Town of Stark board voted on Sept. 9 to purchase land behind the town barn for a new salt-and-sand storage site for a total price of $37,500. Supervisor Bronner described the cost and the board approved the purchase on a motion by Councilman Jordan, seconded by Councilman Hubiak; a roll-call vote recorded all ayes (Supervisor Bronner; Councilmen Gerhardt, Jordan, Hubiak and Voght).
Board members and residents debated the acreage described in the sale agreement. Councilman Voght recalled earlier references to $12,500 per acre for three acres, but Bronner said the written agreement specified "3 acres or less for the cost of $37,500.00" and the owner insisted he would not sell three full acres and wanted the agreement language left as written. The board voted despite that discussion and directed next steps for closing and site development.
