Plevna lagoon passes inspection; council told repairs and reserves are needed

Water/Wastewater Operator Sam Thielen updated the council on lagoon operations and recent maintenance work. Thielen said he had "turned the flow into cell two" to try to dry cell one and that the inlet-to-outlet pipe angle needs adjustment; he also reported that D&D addressed most tank leaks but would return to finish remaining repairs. "We passed our Lagoon inspection," Thielen said, while noting inspectors' concerns that the town does not have a backup operator on record and lacks sufficient reserve funds to rebuild the entire system if needed.
Mayor Gary Thielen reported contacting Griffith Excavating about repair work. The council discussed operational flexibility — running into the second cell and using an equalizer line — and agreed to pursue needed repairs and to discuss reserve-fund planning in future budget work. The clerk will relay repair options and cost estimates when available.
