Survey finds aging, chronic conditions and mental health among Franklin’s top health concerns

Staff presented baseline results from the community health assessment and said they had about 334 usable survey responses. Elle said respondents skewed toward adults over 55 and noted a higher response rate from older, highly educated white women — a pattern the team expects for community surveys and one the staff plan to correct with secondary data and youth focus groups.
The top three health issues identified by respondents were healthy aging, mental illness/mental health and chronic disease, with an overall community-safety and health-behaviors theme. Staff said they completed about 30 key informant interviews and will supplement survey results with census data and targeted youth engagement to make sure younger populations are represented.
