City Manager Andrea Roy summarized the consent agenda, telling council the Motorola Solutions agreement covers trunk radio system support and maintenance for Bedford and five neighboring cities and will cost $2,456,457.90 over four years; Bedford's share is approximately 0.167 of the total. Funds will come from the general fund and the water and sewer fund where appropriate.
"The subject request is to approve a 4 year Motorola support and maintenance agreement with the cost divided equally among the 6 cities," Roy said. Council asked clarifying questions about Bedford's portion and staff confirmed the city's share is roughly $97,000 for the coming year.
Roy also summarized a negotiated settlement with Atmos Energy Corp. Midtex related to its 2026 rate review mechanism filing, reducing the company's requested increase from $291,100,000 to $260,500,000; staff noted residential bills for the group of RRM cities will increase about $13.37 per month starting in October but that there is no direct financial impact to the city. The council approved the entire consent agenda unanimously.
The item also authorized use of an interlocal agreement to procure pavement‑marking services from Elite Striping, with a one‑year term and two one‑year renewal options totaling $150,000 annually and $450,000 if extensions are exercised; funds are available in the street improvements operating budget.
