West Haven’s City Council approved two construction contracts at its Aug. 21 meeting.
For the 2700 W (2050 to 2190) sidewalk improvement plans, the council awarded the bid to Next Construction in the amount of $109,387.28. Councilmember Carrie Call made the motion to award and Kim Dixon seconded; the motion passed with five ayes.
Council discussed a discrepancy in reimbursement amounts to property owners in the sidewalk agreement; Edward Mignone said the agreement text was incorrect, and staff clarified that the original subdivision dedication meant the city did not perform a taking of property.
The council also awarded the Windsor Park road and parking-lot contract at 2683 S 3150 W to Staker & Parson Companies for $265,000. Ryan Saunders moved the award and Kim Dixon seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Together the two contracts total $374,387.28 in awarded construction work. Council asked staff to ensure reimbursement language and right-of-way history are reflected correctly in contract documents.
