Council tables Riverwalk MDA amendment after trail removal raises concerns

Alika Murphy explained a proposed second amendment to the Riverwalk Master Development Agreement at the Aug. 21 meeting. The amendment would add a dedicated leasing office at the start of the development and remove a trail from the plat because, staff said, the trail "would lead to nowhere."
Murphy said she consulted Parks and Recreation staff who confirmed there are no planned connections for the trail. Shawn Warnke suggested that the developer pay the cost of the trail toward improvements elsewhere in the city.
Councilmember Ryan Saunders moved to table the ordinance to allow further consideration of the trail issue; Nina Morse seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Council discussion left the leasing office component uncontroversial but deferred action on the trail removal and potential compensation or mitigation for the lost trail connection.
