The measure would forbid a home-based business from engaging in the "sale, mail order, trade, manufacture, display, storage or repair of any sort of explosive or improvised explosive device, and or prohibited weapons, as defined under ARS Section 13-3101." That wording was presented as deletions and additions to the existing code; stakeholders were invited to review the handout provided at the hearing.
Dr. Johnson reiterated that notice had been posted at the town's public posting locations and on the town Facebook page, and that the public-review period began Feb. 5. He reported, "To this day, no written comments have been submitted." After opening the hearing for public comment and recording that no one from the public came forward, Dr. Johnson closed the hearing and recommended the Town Council adopt the amendment at its final reading. The change aligns the local code language with the state statute referenced (ARS 13-3101), so local enforcement will rely on the statute's definitions for "prohibited weapons."
