Ruben Villa presented the town’s financial report for the period ending Jan. 31, covering seven months or about 59% of the fiscal year. Villa said the town’s unaudited numbers show revenues exceeding expenditures by approximately $231,000 and that most funds are in acceptable condition.
Villa cautioned the figures are unaudited and subject to change; he pointed out some line items are above budget either because of early-year expenditures or estimation differences and said staff will reexamine those during the budget process. Villa singled out the landfill fund as the only fund in a condition of concern, noting reimbursements tied to a GADA grant will be amortized over 10–15 years and should relieve pressure on landfill finances.
"These numbers are unaudited and are subject to change," Villa said, adding staff will notify the council if anything of concern appears before audits are complete. Council directed staff to begin Truth in Taxation notices following the financial briefing.
