Council approves IGA to pool opioid-settlement funds with Cochise County

The Huachuca City Council unanimously approved Resolution 2026-01 on March 12 to enter an intergovernmental agreement with Cochise County to pool opioid-settlement funds. Town Manager Suzanne Harvey explained the town’s share is small and that pooling with the county helps meet the strict allowable-use rules and creates funds large enough to support meaningful projects.
Harvey told the council that the Cochise County pool had about $3,000,000 available across participating jurisdictions and that Huachuca City's portion would be roughly $28,000. She said the IGA creates an advisory board on which the town may serve in order to retain a voice in how pooled funds are spent. Councilmembers voted to approve the resolution without objection.
