The Huachuca City Town Council unanimously approved approximately $47,282.63 to repair the town's Caterpillar D6 dozer on Jan. 8, 2026.
Town Manager Suzanne Harvey introduced the item and Michael Fox explained the need for the work, saying, “These repairs are needed to keep the machine running,” and that issues were discovered during routine checks and that parts had worn with time. Johann Wallace moved to approve the repair expenditure; Councilmember Christy Hirshberg seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Council members discussed the scope briefly during the meeting but did not request that the item be escalated to a separate procurement action; the motion authorized the work as presented. The council did not specify an alternate funding source in the discussion; the payment approval was handled as part of routine spending approvals.
The repair authorization will allow town operations staff to return the dozer to service for public works tasks; the meeting minutes do not record a projected completion date for the repairs.
