Bridge City approves $524,892 HDR contract for water-rate study

Bridge City Council voted Oct. 7 to authorize a contract with HDR for a water-rate study, a step city officials said is intended to inform future utility-rate decisions.
City Manager Bart Bartkowiak told the council, "The city executed an agreement with HDR with a cost of 524,892 for the water rate study that was talked about during budget." He said staff had budgeted roughly $535,000 after receiving multiple proposals and that the final contracted amount came in lower than the higher earlier estimates. The manager also said a third proposal the city received was right under $525,000.
Councilors did not debate the contract during the meeting. The contract approval was included in staff reports and carried on a unanimous vote of those present: Mayor David Rutledge, Mayor Pro-Tem Patty Collins and Council Members Aaron Roccaforte, Gina Mannino and Bryant Champagne. Council Members Chris Bouley and Sherby Dixon were absent.
