Board approves wetland-area rezoning in Pensaukee after county review and DNR permits

Oconto County adopted amendatory ordinance A2026-07-03 to rezone a parcel in the Town of Pensaukee from Agricultural w/ Conservancy/Shoreland Wetland Overlay to Agricultural District (petition RZ-20260020). The ordinance notes the owner, Scott Raether, filed for wetland fill totaling 3,323 square feet (0.076 acres) to create buildable uplands and had obtained Wisconsin DNR permits (GP-NE-2025-43-01364) for a waterway crossing.
The Land & Water Resources Committee reviewed the wetland standards in county ordinance Sec. 26.305 and Sec. 14.3315 and concluded the proposed fill would not have a significant adverse impact on flood storage, groundwater recharge, shoreline protection, fish and wildlife habitat, or other listed wetland functions; the committee therefore recommended approval after a July 13 public hearing. The board certified the ordinance adoption by unanimous electronic vote.
