Oconto County supervisors on July 23 authorized $425,000 to complete repairs on a bridge on County Highway CC after the county’s design and contractor estimates increased during construction.
The board-approved package (R2026-07-03) uses $135,000 from unallocated sales-tax reserves and $290,000 from unallocated ARPA interest funds to cover added bridge-deck full-depth repairs, additional design and construction oversight fees, and the county share of construction costs. County materials provided with the resolution indicate the original budget underestimated required work; the county invoked emergency purchasing provisions to proceed promptly because the bridge was down to one lane.
Administration and Highway Committee members explained the need for immediate repairs to avoid further traffic disruption; the resolution specifies the project was already under contract to Zenith Tech, Inc. and that grant funding through LRIP (Local Road Improvement Program) will reimburse a portion of eligible costs.
