The Oconto County Board on July 23 approved a resolution (R2026-07-02) allocating $365,000 of unallocated county sales-tax revenue to improve 1.56 miles of County Highway F between State Highway 32 and Club House Lane.
Highway Commissioner Brandon Hytinen described the work as milling and paving to complete a contiguous improvement alongside a 3.4-mile segment the county completed earlier in 2026. The Administration and Highway committees recommended using the sales-tax account to cover the county’s portion of the project; the resolution passed by unanimous electronic vote.
County documents attached to the resolution state that Wisconsin counties are responsible for the construction and upkeep of county highways under state law and that the allocation will be carried into FY2027 if the work cannot be completed this year. The resolution was sponsored by the Administration Committee and the Highway Committee and was certified with 27 ayes, 0 nays and 4 absent.
