Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council the Town’s procurement code has not been updated in years and that the existing requirement for RFPs for projects over $10,000 discourages vendors from bidding for smaller projects. Harvey proposed replacing the RFP requirement for modest expenditures with a three-quote requirement and suggested that the Town Manager be authorized to approve emergency expenditures up to $35,000.
Town Attorney Thomas Benavidez told council he concurred with the proposed changes. Mayor Wallace directed staff to return an ordinance reflecting those updates at the next council meeting so the council may consider formal adoption.
