Huachuca City adopts ordinance aligning home-business rules with state law on firearms

The Huachuca City Council on Feb. 26, 2026, adopted Ordinance No. 2026-03, amending Title 18 of the Town Code to remove the prohibition on firearms-related home-based businesses. Mayor Johann R. Wallace introduced the second reading and explained the change responds to state law requirements.
"This is something we have to adjust based on state law," Mayor Wallace said during the meeting. The ordinance passed on a motion by Johann Wallace, seconded by Christy Hirshberg, with the minutes recording unanimous approval. The adoption means the Town’s zoning code will no longer bar firearms-related home-based business activity described in the ordinance; any regulatory or permit details will follow in code administration and permitting processes.
